Woven throughout every experience you’ll have with us, are traditional methods, skills, and history from our Ojibway, Metis and Cree cultures. Whether it’s learning about skills we used as hunters and gatherers to discovering how to identify moose tracks or medicinal plants, you will discover a rich story of our Indigenous way of life.
For those looking for unique cultural experiences, Painted Warriors offers a range of experiences for first-timers to advanced outdoor enthusiasts. Come out for an afternoon of archery or immerse yourself in one of our longer trips into the Rocky Mountains. Our Back Country Bootcamp adventures will equip you with the skills to take on backcountry riding with confidence. We offer two different levels so both recreational riders and for more advanced riders looking to acquire further skills and O.C.C equine certifications. Our horseback riding adventures are one-of-a-kind experiences that will introduce you to back-country riding as we share our Indigenous knowledge, heritage, and culture along the way. An Adventure for the Soul

When Belinda Giles and her husband arrived at the Painted Warriors ranch, they weren’t sure what to expect.

It was winter in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains so the air was crisp and sharp and Belinda, her husband and two teenage daughters had never been winter camping before. But the warm greeting from owners Tracey Klettl and Tim Mearn helped put them at ease right away as they showed them to their accommodations. Belinda and her family cautiously entered their tent expecting extreme cold but were enveloped by a blanket of warmth from a cozy fire in the woodstove thoughtfully prepared for them before they arrived. Belinda was suddenly glad that the sturdy trappers tent would serve as a warm and welcoming haven and be their home base on the ranch during their stay.
