School Programs

Join us at Painted Warriors to learn land-based skills and connect to the natural environment in a new way—one that is rooted in Indigenous ways of knowing, learning and experiencing the outdoors.

We welcome students of all ages to come out and learn with us in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains!

From kindergarten to university, we offer a range of programming for students that can include archery, horseback riding, outdoor wilderness skills, or custom programming. We will work with you to develop a rewarding and memorable program that works with your timelines and educational requirements.

Trainer Spotlight

Owners Tracey Klettl and Tim Mearn are highly qualified Outdoor Council of Canada instructors with additional diverse certifications including: Hunger Education instructors; Outdoor Council of Canada instructors, Interpretative Guide Association certification; Archery Intermediate Archery Canada; Level 3 Wilderness Guide Instructors; Certified Equine Canada Nationally certified riding instructor; Equine first aid instructor.

Painted Warriors is an accredited training facility and is certified through the International Wilderness Guides Association.

Who is it for?

For educators seeking a unique, experiential learning opportunity set in nature with an Indigenous perspective woven into the learning experience. From elementary to higher education, we are able to adapt and deliver custom training and offer a range of programming options to choose from for your school.


What do students need to bring?

We will be spending time outdoors so we ask that students wear appropriate clothing. In winter, warm, winter clothing such as a heavy jacket, hiking or snow boots, warm head covering such as a toque, as well as a scarf and gloves. In fall and spring, weather can change quickly so please bring an extra layer just in case! We ask that you please bring your own water bottle and avoid bringing plastic bottles.

If you are a school group visiting Painted Warriors, please download and ensure all students complete our waiver and email tracey.paintedwarriors@gmail.com prior to your arrival.

Cost

Please contact us directly to discuss pricing. We offer discounted rates for larger groups and are happy to work with you to create a program for your budget.
